India's fuel consumption has risen by 4.9 percent in November buoyed by rising diesel sales, official data showed at a time when international crude oil rates have plunged to a five-year low.

Fuel consumption in November was at 13.9 million tonnes, up from 13.3 million tonnes in the same period a year ago, according to latest figures from the petroleum ministry.
