Indian Army chief cancels Bhutan visit

Indian Army chief Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag has cancelled his four-day trip to Bhutan as Chinese troops continue to camp inside Indian territory in the Ladakh area of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said Monday.

"The visit was to begin today (Monday) but has been called off," a source in the defence ministry said refusing to cite the reason for the cancellation.

According to army sources, Chinese troops continue to lodge in Indian territory in Chumar of Ladakh. The troops have erected at least seven tents, according to information available.

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Subhash Goswami Monday met Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and briefed him about the situation.The minister said the government was waiting for reports and refused to make any comment on the issue.
