A benchmark index for Indian equities, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), on Thursday opened lower and was trading at 26,455.39 points some 18 minutes after the opening bell.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading lower at 8,006.40 points, with a loss of 33.80 points or 0.42 percent.
The 30-share Sensex opened at 26,478.36 points, against the previous close at 26,552.92 points on Wednesday.
At 9.33 a.m., it was ruling at 26,455.39 points, with a loss of 97.53 points, or 0.37 percent.
