The Indian flag was raised in the Sochi Olympic Games Sunday, five days after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) lifted a 14-month-old ban on the Asian country.
The flag-raising ceremony was attended by newly-elected Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president N. Ramachandran and Indian athletes including luger Shiva Keshavan, reports Xinhua.
The IOC suspended India in December 2012 after the Indian Olympic body elected two corruption tainted officials as its leaders.
India sent three athletes to Sochi. They carried the IOC flag during the opening ceremony Feb 7. The athletes will now be able to carry the Indian tri-colour in the closing ceremony Feb 23.
