Experts from India and Germany will take part in a scientific conference here later this week to discuss global advancements in laser technology and new generation nano materials.

The conference is being organised by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft or DFG) in collaboration with the Srinivasa Ramanujam Institute for Basic Sciences under the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), the Goethe Zentrum and the Humboldt Club, Thiruvananthapuram.

Over 100 scientists and researchers from the two countries are taking part in the three-day Indo-German Conference on Laser Applications and Nano Science starting Thursday.

Hans-Guenther Loeffler, deputy consul general at the German Consulate General in Bangalore, will inaugurate the conference.

Jens-Uwe Grabow from Leibniz University in Hannover, Germany, who specialises in molecular structure and dynamics, will deliver the keynote lecture.

The major topics to be discussed include microwave coherence spectroscopy, investigation of interstellar molecules, imaging sensors, new materials for fibre lasers and new generation nano materials and their applications.
