Indian hockey team to attend coaching camp in March-April

The Indian men's hockey team will undergo a month-long coaching camp to prepare for the upcoming tournaments at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre here from March 7 to April 8.

The camp will set the tone for the rest of the year. The fourth Hockey India League (HIL), which concluded recently, saw the emergence of many new prospects, both at the junior and senior levels, who have been included in the camp.

Thirty-three probables have been selected for the camp which will be held in preparation for the all important Olympic Games, to be held in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 to 21.

 

In addition, Hockey India (HI) also named a 32-member squad of juniors, keeping in mind the Junior World Cup to be held at an undecided venue in India from December 1 to 11. The juniors' camp will also be held here from March 7 to April 2.

The 33 senior probables:

Goalkeepers: P.R. Sreejesh, Harjot Singh, Akash Chikte

Defenders: Rupinder Pal Singh, Pardeep Mor, Jasjit Singh Kular, Birender Lakra, V.R. Raghunath, Kothajit Singh, Sumit, Surender Kumar, Gurjinder Singh, Amit Gowda

Midfielders: Danish Mujtaba, Chinglensana Singh, Manpreet Singh, Sardar Singh, Satbir Singh, Dharamvir Singh, S.K. Uthappa, Devinder Walmiki, Nithin Thimmaiah
