The men's squash team assured India of a possible gold or at least a silver as it made the title clash beating Kuwait 2-0 in the semi-finals of the 17th Asian Games at the Yeorumul Squash Courts here Friday.

The men's team will play the winner between Hong Kong and Malaysia in the final slated for Saturday.

Mahesh Mangaonkar gave India a perfect start, thrashing Altamimi Ammar 3-0 (11-3, 11-4, 12-10) in just 37 minutes while World No. 16 Saurav Ghosal, who earlier won the individual singles silver, was made to work hard by Almezayen Abdullah before prevailing 3-2 (11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-3) in the second rubber which lasted one hour and two minutes.

With the win over Abdullah, Ghosal also avenged his singles final loss Tuesday when he was the hot favourite to win gold but settled for silver as the Kuwaiti registered a surprising victory.

Also, the Indian squash contingent is all set for its best-ever performance at Asiad with two medals won and two already assured. Dipika Pallikal had also won a singles bronze.
