The Indian high commission in Malaysia has warned employers against physical abuse and ill-treatment of Indian manpower in Malaysia.
The high hommission had been working very closely with the Malaysian ministry of human resources to try and address grievances of Indian workers so that such cases of abuse were curtailed and remedial action taken, a statement issued by the commission said Friday.
The statement says that the high commission is still getting information of cases of physical abuse and ill-treatment of Indian manpower in Malaysia.
In order to curb this practice which is also contrary to the laws and regulations of Malaysia, the Indian high commission has decided that in cases where there is evidence of abuse and ill-treatment, the employers responsible would be withdrawn the privileges which the Indian Government has extended to them, like PIO card, visas etc, the statement said.
The commission has appealed to all employers to cooperate with the Indian high commission in ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all Indian labourers employed in Malaysia.
