Indian soldiers injured in Britain accident

Two Indian soldiers were admitted to a hospital in Britain after they sustained injuries in an accident, an Indian Army official said here on Thursday.

The soldiers were in Britain to participate in "Ajeya Warrior" joint drill between the armies of India and Britain.

The accident took place on Wednesday evening, while Indian and British soldiers were returning from the training area in a troop carrier vehicles of British forces at Salisbury Plain, near Westdown Camp.

"The road traffic collision happened on a by-way which cuts through the Salisbury Plain," an Indian Army official said.

The official said two Indian soldiers, who suffered leg fracture in the accident, were admitted to a hospital. Some other soldiers also sustained "minor injuries" and have been discharged from hospital.

 

The injured included personnel from the Kumaon Regiment.

Some British soldiers also sustained injuries.

"Ajeya Warrior" is being conducted from June 13 to 28 at Westdown Camp, Salisbury Plain Training Area. The drill is held bi-annually in both the countries alternatively.
