Alberti Duty Free, worldwide supplier of duty free goods, will make Indian wines available in Europe and promote the spirits in the continent's markets.

Trieste-based Alberti, which specialises in diplomatic shipment transfers, will make the Indian wines available on tax- and duty-free basis to diplomats and privileged persons in the European Union.

In June, the Indian wines will also compete for the first time in the oldest wine tasting event in Europe -- Vino Ljubljana 2014 -- in Slovenia.

According to diplomatic sources, the development will encourage Indian exporters to explore new markets such as Slovenia to promote agricultural produce and processed foods like wines.

Last week 70 Slovenian companies participated in a locally organised conference to promote imports from India, hoping that the new Indian government will support the export promotion.
