The Indian handball contingent experienced a mixed Sunday at the Asian Games here with the women's team forcing a come-from-behind 26-26 tie against Thailand while the men suffered a second straight defeat, going down 19-39 to hosts South Korea in their respective preliminary round matches.
The men, having lost 20-39 against Chinese Taipei in the first match Saturday, trailed 6-21 in the first half but managed to reduce the deficit.
However, they couldn't mastermind a turnaround and lost the post-break session 13-18 at the Seonhak Handball Gymnasium.
They are scheduled to face Japan in their third and final Group D match Monday.
Later, the women were trailing 10-15 after the first half but rallied to equalise in the second session with a score of 16-11, forcing a tie in their Group A match at the Suwon Gymnasium.
The women had lost 11-47 to hosts South Korea in their first match Saturday. They will play their third and final match against China Monday.
