After spending five days in hospital for treatment for an unknown affliction, Indrani Mukerjea, one of the three prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, was discharged from hospital and returned to jail here on Tuesday evening, officials said.

Following an improvement in her condition, she was discharged and shifted back by police to the Byculla jail, where she will be in judicial custody till October 19.

"There is improvement in Indrani's condition. All her vital parameters are normal, she is fully conscious, and speaking with the doctors. The panel of doctors treating her will take a decision when she can record her statement with police," Sir J.J. Hospital's dean T.P. Lahane told media persons.

Her medical status report, in a sealed envelope, has been sent to the Esplanade Court which sent her -- along with the two other main accused, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamwar Rai -- to judicial custody till October 19.

Through her lawyer Gunjn Mangala, Indrani expressed her readiness to be interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in jail.

In a related development, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate R.V. Adone on Tuesday reserved his order till Wednesday on a CBI plea seeking to interrogate the accused trio.

The CBI lawyer said the probe agency recently took over the Sheena murder case from Mumbai police and needed to interrogate the three accused.

Khanna's lawyer S. Mithare informed the court that they had no onbjections to interrogation by the CBI, but Rai's lawyer S. Bhave took objections contending that the probe was already completed.
