An inebriated man was arrested on charge of molesting a woman in a Metro train in east Delhi, police said on Thursday.

Manu Kumar, 40, of Begusarai in Bihar was arrested from a Metro platform soon after the woman alerted security personnel on Wednesday, police said.

The woman was on way to her office when she approached security at the Yamuna Bank Metro station on the Blue Line and complained the man had molested her between Noida Sector 16 station and Akshardham .

"She tried to resist his attempts in the crowded coach but he chased her on to the platform too," Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Kumar Singh said.

Kumar has been booked for molestation, making sexually coloured remarks, uttering words and gestures to insult the modesty of a woman and for criminal intimidation under the Indian Panel Code, the officer added.

He said Kumar claimed he committed the crime under the influence of liquor.
