Constable Subhash Tomar was reportedly beaten up at Tilak Marg, near India Gate in central Delhi, amid violent protests. The constable lost consciousness as he had also suffered injuries in the stone-pelting by protestors.
"He continues to be critical and remains on ventilator," said T.S Sidhu, medical superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
Doctors said cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on him Sunday evening, as he was in a state of cardiac arrest.
Doctors of the RML Hospital also said they treated nearly 150 protestors, who suffered minor injuries in the violence Sunday.
"Most of the protestors had minor injuries like bruises and cuts; none of them were admitted to hospital," a senior doctor said.
Among the 150 injured in the fracas, 78 were policemen, four of them senior officers.
