Italian football heavyweights Inter Milan on Tuesday sacked head coach Frank de Boer after he won just four of his first 11 Serie A matches.
The Italian giants are 12th in the table after they were beaten 0-1 away at Sampdoria on Sunday -- their fifth defeat of the campaign -- to languish at the bottom of their Europa League group.
It is understood Inter's hierarchy held a meeting early on Tuesday to discuss De Boer's future and a potential caretaker boss.
De Boer had penned a three-year contract to replace Roberto Mancini after resigning as manager of Ajax following their failure to win the Dutch football league Eredivisie title in Holland.
