Midfielder Eduardo Sasha scored either side of halftime to fire 10-man Internacional to a 2-1 away victory over Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A football championship.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the 37th minute, but the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Alex Meschini was shown a red card for a bad foul on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

Former Uruguay captain Diego Lugano headed in an equaliser before Sasha's 89th-minute strike regained the lead for Sao Paulo.

The result at the Morumbi stadium lifted Internacional to sixth in the 20-team standings while Sao Paulo dropped to ninth.

In other matches on Sunday, Atletico Mineiro drew 1-1 at Atletico Paranaense, Santos beat Coritiba 2-1, Chapecoense outclassed America Mineiro 3-1, Gremio defeated Flamengo 1-0, Vitoria overcame Corinthians 3-2 and Botafogo drew 1-1 against Sport.
