An international buyer-seller meet, food festival, culinary competition, quiz contest and technical seminars concerning critical aspects and growth strategies will mark the Bengal Fish Fest being organised here during December 18-20.
The fest would provide an opportunity to sea food and fishery industry leaders, entrepreneurs and service providers to showcase their products, services, technologies and their benefits to the participants and users in the sector, West Bengal Fisheries Minister Chandra Nath Sinha told the media on Tuesday.
Being held amid the picturesque settings of the Nalban boating complex at Salt Lake, the highlight of the fest would be an international buyer-seller meet where buyers from Oman, the UAE, Japan, Vietnam and China would engage with Indian exporters of shrimps, fish and sea food and explore various mutual business and exports opportunities.
Organised by the state department of fisheries and the Indian Chamber of Commerce, the fest would have a varied fare.
A technical seminar would dissect the critical aspects and strategies to ensure growth of the sector covering infrastructure and research, international marketing and internal trade, investment promotion for the fisheries sector.
Around 50 stalls put up by machineries manufacturers, cold chain infrastructure providers, would exhibit various kind of inputs, accessories, ornamental fish, dry and fresh fish, and discuss prospects related to technology, large business oriented audiences and fishermen.

Around 15 food and restaurant chains of the city would be a part of the festival with their varied offering of ready to serve fish preparations.
Sinha said a two-day culinary competition and quiz contest will be organised, and people with their specially prepared recipes will take part. The winners will be awarded with trips to fisheries tourism destinations.
