The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking to quash a criminal case against Gujarat Police personnel involved in the Ishrat Jahan shootout case in view of Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Headley's statement.

Telling PIL petitioner M.L. Sharma that he should have approached the high court, the apex court bench headed by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose said that the court could not pass any order under Article 32.

While refusing Sharma's plea to withdraw his PIL after it was dismissed, the court said it has expressed what it had to say.

However, the court made it clear that dismissal of Sharma's plea would not come in the way of those having locus to seek remedies in the light of recent revelations by Headley.

The court said this on the plea by Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.
