ISL refers unsporting behaviour of FC Goa to disciplinary committee

Taking serious view of adverse comments and unsporting behaviour of FC Goa players on and off the field after the Indian Super League (ISL) final, the tournament's management on Monday referred the matter to its disciplinary committee.

In a close-fought summit clash encounter, Goa lost 2-3 to Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharla Nehru Stadium here on Sunday. The match was a heated affair wih several conflicts between the players throughout the match.

"It has been brought to the notice of ISL and concerns expressed by our partner Star India that FC Goa management have made adverse comments in media disputing the result of ISL 2015 finals played here in Goa on Sunday night," said an ISL release.

 

Goa boycotted the medal ceremony and then their co-owner Duttaraj Salgaocar later filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Chennaiyin FC marquee player Elano Blumer for allegedly assaulting and abusing him.

Blumer was arrested and subsequently released on bail, for allegedly assaulting FC Goa co-owner Dattaraj Salgaocar after the final.

Blumer was booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause breach of peace) late on Sunday night.

The complaint filed by Salgaocar at Margao police station on Sunday said that the former Brazil international assaulted him after the presentation ceremony.

"The League has also taken serious view of the unsporting behaviour by the Goa franchise and alleged unsporting behaviour of certain players of the teams on and off the field."

"ISL does not accept such behaviour from any member of the club management, support staff or players. The matter has now been referred to the ISL Disciplinary Committee. ISL has strict code of conduct with an established integrity unit and an ACSU division," the release added.

ISL has not received any complain from the Goa management.
