Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Sunday said the interim agreement between the P5+1 countries and Iran is a mistake.

Attending a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said: "This is not a historic agreement but a historic mistake."

"The world is more dangerous, because the most dangerous regime had made a significant step to get the most dangerous weapons. The P5+1 countries agreed that Iran would enrich uranium, while disregarding decisions that they themselves have led sanctions that took years to achieve," Xinhua quoted Netanyahu as saying.

The P5+1 group includes the five UN Security Council permanent members -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the US -- plus Germany.

The prime minister added that Israel was not bound to the agreement.

"Iran is committed to the destruction of Israel. Israel retains the right to defend itself. Israel will not let Iran develop nuclear capabilities," he added.

Other officials close to Netanyahu including Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman also slammed the interim agreement.

Lieberman said that "there is no achievement in this agreement", and he defined the deal as Iran's biggest diplomatic victory since the 1979 revolution.

According to Lieberman, the deal allows Iran to continue to enrich uranium and continue with its nuclear plan.

"It is clear that this deal acknowledges the right of Iran to enrich uranium. This very recognition brings us to a nuclear arming race. The Iranians were rewarded," Lieberman said.

"We are entering a new era, the State of Israel will have to think things over," he added.

The Israeli attack of the deal echoes Netanyahu's efforts in recent months to prevent the world powers to sign a deal with Iran. Netanyahu lobbied for taking hardline with Iran, including a full continuation of the sanctions and a military attack to end Iran's nuclear capabilities.
