Sporting Lisbon announced on Friday the signing of Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani on a free transfer for three seasons.
The release clause of the former Fiorentina midfielder is set at 45 million euros ($49 million), according to the club's statement.
Aquilani, 31, began his long career with AS Roma, where he stayed for seven years, and in 2009 he played with Liverpool, and then was loaned to Juventus in the 2010-11 season, and then to Milan in 2011-12 season.
The player joined Fiorentina in 2012, where he stayed for three seasons, all the while fighting with the national team, with which he scored five goals in 38 games in him championships such as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
