Striker Alessio Cerci on Monday signed with Italian football club Hellas Verona F.C, the club said on Monday.
According to a statement issued the club, Cerci spent Monday morning having medical tests with Verona, which has been newly promoted to Serie A, reports Efe.
The 29-year-old is looking to re-launch his career at the Italian club after three complicated seasons at Spanish club Atletico Madrid, where he only played 11 games.
The Italian signed for Atletico in the summer of 2014, but did not fit into the tactical system of Argentine coach Diego Pablo Simeone, and played for a year and a half on loan to Milan, and then with Genoa.
The player's departure from Atletico Madrid could have happened in the transfer window in summer 2016, but a serious injury to his right knee prevented his signing with Bologna.
One year after the knee operation, Cerci is already fully recovered and will begin to prepare for the new season under coach Fabio Pecchia.
