Rome, Jan 9 (IANS/AKI) A young woman was on Monday being treated for burn injuries of 60 per cent of her body in the Sicilian port city of Messina after her jilted ex-boyfriend set her on fire.
The police have arrested the 24-year-old man, who on Sunday was said to have rung the doorbell of his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend's apartment.
When she opened the door, he allegedly pushed her inside, poured a cannister of petrol over her and lit a match stick, the police said.
The woman had ended her relationship with her former boyfriend several months earlier. The exes were both currently unemployed and had lived together, local daily La Sicilia said on its website.
