Actor Jack Black, who is a part of "Goosebumps", says there's a dearth of films that are a mix of funny and scary for children and feels that it's because parents have become "super protective".
"I don' think there's been a lot of films that have tried to be funny and scary for kids. It seems like we've gone away from that in general because we've gotten super protective of our children, and we don't want to scare them, don't want to make them cry," Black said in a statement.
In "Goosebumps", which released in India on Friday, Black essays famed author R.L. Stine.
The film is a 3D live-action/computer-animated horror comedy film based on the children's book series of the same name by R.L. Stine.
Vouching to deliver a thrill through "Goosebumps", Black added that "one of the reasons the movie is cool is because kids like to have a thrill, you know, and this is going to be a much more exciting ride than they usually get".
The film also features actors Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Halston Sage, Ryan Lee, Jillian Bell, and Halston Sage.
