A probe panel set up by the Haryana government to probe the incident of vulgar dance by jail officials inside the Jind jail premises last month, has found two prison officials "guilty", a senior officer said on Monday.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Ram Niwas told media here that the probe panel, comprising the Jind Deputy Commissioner and an Inspector General-level officer, who had been deputed to conduct an inquiry into the video of the cultural programme in District Jail Jind, had submitted their report, which held two prison officers guilty.

"Jail Superintendent Atma Ram and Deputy Jail Superintendent Sewa Singh have been found guilty. The state government has taken a serious view of the incident, and strict disciplinary action would soon be taken against them," he said.

Meanwhile, Satwan Singh, the head warden of the Karnal district jail was, on Saturday, placed under suspension after a video showing him dancing with a woman inside the jail premises went viral on social media.

Haryana's Inspector General of Police (Prisons) ordered the suspension.

The video showed the jail warden, in uniform, performing some vulgar dance steps with a professional dancer on a stage inside the Jind jail premises recently during a function organised to mark the Holi festival.

Other jail officials were also seen in the video. Some people at the show were also throwing currency votes on the woman dancer during her performance.

According to the report submitted by the probe panel, the incident occurred due to the negligence of the jail officers and the cultural programme was organised with their knowledge.

"Violation of the jail manual has definitely occurred, as calling outsiders for such programmes on jail premises and involvement of officers in such programmes is not within the bounds of propriety," Ram Niwas said.
