Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will inaugurate a one-week workshop for economic teachers here on June 11, which will see Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) Arvind Subramanian deliver lectures on various aspects of Indian economy, including demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), open economy and universal basic income.
"Jaitley will inaugurate the Teachers Workshop at IIT-Delhi on June 11. The one-week workshop for economic teachers from different universities and colleges across India is being hosted by the office of the CEA," the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
"Subramanian will be delivering the lectures during the workshop on various aspects of the Indian economy based on the latest three Economic Surveys," the statement added.
The workshop, a first of its kind, will cover topics like policy challenges, fiscal policy, state finances, fourteenth Finance Commission, monetary policy, inflation targeting, twin balance sheet challenge and the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity.
"This course will cover the history of Indian economic development and the current progress, challenges and the strategy going forward. It will cover these themes through the analysis presented in the Economic Surveys of the previous three years (2014-15 to 2016-17)," it said.
Targeting both students and teachers of Economics at the undergraduate and advanced levels as well as policymakers, the course aims at developing an in-depth understanding of the Indian economy and impending challenges.
"The participants will become proficient in understanding and analysing macroeconomic developments and policy. They will also become familiar with the current dominant thoughts and tools used for economic policy making and research," it said.
