Moscow, Aug 15 (IANS/CMC) Jamaican shot putter Raymond Brown was taken to a hospital here Thursday after injuring his right throwing shoulder during warm ups for the first round of the event at the Luzhniki stadium.

Team liaison officer Dennis Gordon told the Jamaica Observer that Brown had suffered the injury to his shoulder, which was swollen but could not give the extent of the damage, reports CMC.

Brown was taken to the medical facility for an ultrasound after which an official report would be made.

Conditions Thursday's sixth morning of the Championships saw temperatures in the low 17 degrees Celsius.

The other Jamaican representative in the shot put O'Dayne Richards was eliminated in the qualifiers Thursday.

Richards placed 10th in Group A with a throw of 19.08 metres, which put him out of contention.
