Singer James Arthur apologised for his behaviour in recent times and thanked those who stood by him when the going was tough.

Arthur, the 2012 winner of "The X Factor", experienced a fall in his fame after he made homophobic comments on rapper Micky Worthless.

The 25-year-old performed at the "The X Factor" episode Sunday and took the opportunity to come clean, reports dailymail.co.uk.

"It's been an amazing year for me, incredible highs paired with incredible lows. I've made some very silly mistakes but I just want to thank everyone who stuck by me through this difficult time," said James.

"Above all, I just want to say sorry for abusing my position as an 'X Factor' winner because I owe this show everything," he added.
