After fresh snowfall and rain prompted shutdown of the strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway, authorities on Tuesday restored the road for traffic.
"Traffic has been allowed to move on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today morning," an official of the traffic department told IANS here.
"Landslides in the Nasri sector and fresh snowfall in Tunnel and Nowgam areas of Bannihal sector had forced closure of the highwayon Monday evening."
The over 300 km long road is the lifeline of supplies to the landlocked Kashmir Valley as all essentials of life including foodgrains, medicines, vegetables, petroleum products, are routed into through this road.
