Jammu University on Tuesday started the golden jubilee celebrations by honouring Gulzar, the legendary Urdu poet and writer and film maker.
The celebration began at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of the university where Gulzar and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, the advisor to the state governor, opened the event.
"Golden jubilee celebrations started with 'Jashn-e-Gulzar' to honour the legendary poet and writer, Gulzar as an ambassador of the rich Indian culture," said Vinay Thusu, media in-charge of the university.
Ganai hailed the contribution of Gulzar towards Bollywood with some of his most iconic films like Aandhi, Mausam, Parichay, Mere Apne and Maachis, and also to Urdu language and poetry.
Gulzar read some of his heart throbbing poems on the occasion.
