The merger of the six parties of the erstwhile Janata Parivar was a "matter of a few days", Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday.
"Everything has been finalised and completed for the merger. It is only a matter of a few days," Nitish Kumar told the media after returning from Delhi where he met Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his own party president Sharad Yadav in this connection.
Nitish Kumar said the formal announcement of the merger will be made in the next meeting to be called by Mulayam Singh soon.
"Now, there are no ifs and buts, merger is final," the Janata Dal-United leader said.
Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Monday said that after the six parties merge, they would defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the assembly polls scheduled this year.
"Our leader will be Mulayam Singh Yadav," Lalu Prasad said.
