Japan, India to hold strategic dialogue

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida is visiting India Jan 16-18 during which both countries will hold the eighth round of the strategic dialogue, after a gap of nearly two years.

Both sides will also review the outcomes since the "pathbreaking" visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan last year, a statement said.

During the strategic dialogue, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Kishida will review all aspects of the bilateral relations and also the status of outcomes, including on agreeing to double Japanese investment in India in five years.

During Modi's visit, Japan had promised to give $35 billion to India over the next five years for developmental projects.
