Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) Tuesday lifted a tsunami warning it issued after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit the northeastern region earlier in the day.
The earthquake was centered 210 km in the Pacific Ocean east of Miyagi Prefecture, with a depth of around 10 km, Xinhua reported.
JMA issued an advisory against a 1-metre tsunami for Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan.
No casualties have been reported so far.
