Japanese parliamentarians visit PM Modi

A delegation of Japanese Parliamentarians led by Toshihiro Nikai, visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Modi welcomed the initiative undertaken by Toshihiro Nikai to raise awareness about the threat posed by tsunamis and sought strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of disaster risk reduction and disaster management, said an official release.

Modi said that he was looking forward to his visit to Japan next week. India and Japan are likely to sign a civil nuclear cooperation agreement during his visit on November 11-12.

During the discussion with the delegation, Modi recalled his interaction with the Japan-India Parliamentarians' Friendship League in September, and welcomed increased interaction between the legislatures of both countries.

 

He called for strengthening exchanges between State-level legislatures.
