Javelin-struck Delhi schoolboy dies

Student Roshan Lama, injured by a stray javelin thrown in school twelve days ago and battling for life in hospital since then, died here Monday, police said.

Lama, a class 6 student, was undergoing treatment in AIIMS Trauma Centre. He was on ventilator.

"At around 7 a.m., he took his last breath," said a police officer.

Lama, a student of Government Boys Senior Secondary School in south Delhi, was in the school grounds Oct 1 when a misdirected javelin thrown by a Class 12 student hit him, piercing his skull causing a deep wound on his ear, police said.

During investigation, police arrested two teachers finding negligence on their part. The student who threw the javelin was also apprehend.

 

Police said Lama's body has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem.
