French defender Jeremy Mathieu returned on Wednesday to training sessions with Spanish football champions Barcelona after recovering from an injury.
Mathieu, who sustained an injury during the first leg of the Supercopa de España in mid-August, is expected to acquire medical clearance in two weeks, reports Efe.
Barcelona's Spanish coach Luis Enrique was absent on Wednesday as he is attending a meeting in the Swiss city of Nyon alongside other European team managers to exchange views and to offer their proposals to UEFA.
Meanwhile, 16 Barcelona players were absent fulfilling national duty with their respective teams, including: Ter Stegen (Germany), Jordi Alba (Spain), Sergi Roberto (Spain), Pique (Spain), Sergio Busquets (Spain), Paco Alcacer (Spain), Denis Suarez (Spain U-21), Andre Gomes (Portugal), Cillessen (Netherlands), Lucas Digne (France), Samuel Umtiti (France), Neymar (Brazil), Messi (Argentina), Mascherano (Argentina), Luis Suárez (Uruguay) and Ivan Rakitic (Croatia).
