Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will review the progress of its projects in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, a statement said here Tuesday.
Tomohide Ichiguchi, deputy chief representative, JICA's India Office and five JICA officials from New Delhi will review the progress of ongoing JICA projects from July 24 to 27.
During his four-day visit, Tomohide will visit the JICA-assisted project sites in the state and meet top officials including Chief Secretary P K Mohanty and Principal Secretary (Finance)Pushpa Subrahmanyam, according to a statement released by JICA India Office.
Andhra Pradesh is the largest recipient of JICA assistance among the 28 states in India. The agency has been providing assistance to state since 1978.
The total assistance provided to Andhra Pradesh so far is about 405,311 million yen equivalent to Rs. 24,865 crores.
The ongoing projects of JICA include the Andhra Pradesh Rural High Voltage Distribution System Project, the Andhra Pradesh Irrigation and Livelihood Improvement Project, the Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project, the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road Project and the Vishakhapatnam Port Expansion Project.
JICA has also assisted strengthening of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad in terms of scholarship, campus development and joint research with Japanese universities.
