With medical facilities in Jind district being crippled due to an agitation by government doctors against district superintendent of police Anil Dhawan, the Haryana government Monday ordered the shifting out of the officer.

"Kuldeep Singh, SP Kaithal, has been given additional charge of SP Jind relieving Anil Dhawan. The posting order of Dhawan will be issued later on," a state government spokesman said.

Government doctors in Jind district have been on strike for over four days demanding action against Dhawan.

They allege that Dhawan was present in the civil hospital last Wednesday along with police officials when relatives of a shopkeeper, who was shot at, attacked doctors. They charged Dhawan of gross inaction in protecting doctors.

The relatives got agitated and alleged that doctors delayed treatment to the shopkeeper, resulting in his death.

The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) claimed that Dhawan was present at the hospital, but left the doctors to the mercy of the agitated relatives.
