Coordination between the police forces of Delhi and Ghaziabad led to the safe return of an abducted child on Tuesday. The five-year-old had been kidnapped from the national capital Delhi while on the way to his school.
According to the police, on January 25, the kidnappers abducted the five-year-old child from his school bus when it was on its way to the school in Dilshad Garden in Delhi. The kidnappers shot at the bus driver and fled, along with the child.
After keeping the child at a safe place, the kidnappers called up his parents and demanded Rs. 50 lakh in ransom for his release. But, instead of giving in to their demand, the parents lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police.
On a tip-off, the Delhi Police personnel located the hideout in Shalimar Garden area of Ghaziabad, coming under the city's Sahibabad Police Station area.
Around 2 a.m on Tuesday, the Delhi Police together with the Ghaziabad police cordoned off the house where the child had been kept and challenged the kidnappers, who opened fire.
In the ensuing encounter, one of the kidnappers, identified as Ravi, was killed, while another Pankaj sustained bullet injuries. Amid the melee, the child was rescued safely, according to Delhi Police DSP Ravi Nayak.
