London, Dec 14 (IANS/CMC) Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones notched his seventh goal of the English Championship season but it was not enough to save Cardiff City from a 3-5 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.
Playing at the Goldsands Stadium Saturday, Cardiff found themselves 1-3 down at half-time and never recovered, plunging to their seventh loss of the season to remain mid-table in the English Championship, reported CMC.
Bournemouth, in contrast, moved joint top of the table with Middlesbrough.
The visitors were behind after a mere 39 seconds through Matt Ritchie's calm finish and doubled their lead through Harry Arter's equally assured finish in the 43rd minute.
Jones then cut the lead when Adam Le Fondre dispossessed Steve Cook and squared his pass, for the lanky frontman to score from close range.
However, Bourmemouth quickly restored their two-goal cushion just a minute later thanks to Marc Pugh's curler during the first half stoppage time.

Following the break, Sean Morrison scored the first of two headed goals in the 48th minute to again haul Cardiff back into contention, only for Frenchman Yann Kermorgant to stretch the hosts' lead again with a brilliant free kick in the 67th.
Morrison's second goal in the 78th left the enthralling contest at 4-3 but Callum Wilson killed off Cardiff's hopes of a comeback with his 89th minute strike.
