Jordan to attend Geneva II conference on Syria

Jordan has said it would take part in the Geneva II conference on conflict-ridden Syria to be held in late January.

Jordan supports a political solution to end the crisis in Syria that preserves the country's stability and unity with the participation of all Syrians, Xinhua quoted Jordanian Minister for Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh as saying Sunday.

Judeh stressed at the importance of the Geneva II conference in this regard.

On the Palestine, the minister said Jordan will go ahead with efforts to support attaining peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

The official reiterated that creating an independent and viable Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 is a strategic interest for Jordan, which is directly involved in final status issues including Jerusalem, water, refugees, security and borders.
