The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will lend soon Jordan 129 million dollars as part of a loan to the Kingdom, a state media report said.

The amount is part of a 2.1-billion dollar loan the IMF agreed to extend to Jordan in 2012 to help it cope with an increasing number of Syrian refugees in the kingdom and push forward the country's financial reforms, Xinhua quoted Jordanian Finance Minister Umayyah Toukan as saying.

Jordan now holds about 650,000 Syrian refugees. It imports about 96 percent of its energy needs annually, the report added Sunday.

The US government also showed readiness to provide Jordan with guarantees to issue its bonds in international markets, the minister added.
