Journalist among three killed in UP road accident

Three people, including a Patna-based journalist, were killed in a road accident in Deoria district in eastern Uttar Pradesh, police said Saturday.

Nine others were injured, including a chief judicial magistrate posted in Bihar's Khagariya, who was taken to the Gorakhpur medical college in a critical condition. The other injured including a woman and girl have been admitted to a local medical facility in Deoria, 475 km from here.

The accident took place in the Sadar area when a speeding truck rammed into a vehicle, on its was from Deoria to Kasya.

Two of the dead have been identified as 42-year-old Gangesh Srivastava, a journalist with a leading Hindi daily, and Kushinagar resident Upendra Prasad. The third is yet to be identified.

 

The injured include the CJM Triloki Tripathi, his gunner Suman Prasad, Raju Prasad, Ram Bijul, Rana Pratap, Asha Srivastava and her daughter Shivani.
