Actress Julie Walters is to be feted for her work on the small screen by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). She says she is "shocked".

Walters will receive her Fellowship at the British Academy Television Awards at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane here May 18.

"I am honoured to receive this prestigious award and extremely shocked. I've worked with some brilliant people over the years and have been very fortunate to have had the opportunities to work on such a variety of projects," contactmusic.com quoted the "Harry Potter" star as saying.

BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry said: "Julie Walters is one of the most talented individuals to grace our screens. She has the innate ability to draw the viewer in across any genre, captivating and entertaining with every performance."

Previous recipients of the BAFTA Fellowship from the TV branch of the Academy include actor David Jason and comedy duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.
