Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung Thursday instructed Delhi Police to improve intelligence inputs to prevent incidents of communal violence by fringe elements.
Jung issued the direction at a fortnightly meeting attended by principal secretary home (GNCTD), Delhi Police commissioner, and special commissioners and joint commissioners of various branches of Delhi Police at Raj Niwas here.
He directed Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi and other senior police officials to be extra vigilant about the fringe elements to prevent communal violence.
Bassi assured Jung that the police were taking all precautions to prevent such incidents from recurring and have activated "Aman Committees" to help check such incidents.
Joint Commissioner of Police (eastern range) Sanjay Beniwal informed that the police have been holding "district level hearing of public grievances" to allay fears and to isolate fringe elements.
Jung also expressed concern about the law and order preparations for coming events like India International Trade Fair 2014 and Annual Nirankari Samagam 2014.
