Karthik fined 5 percent for dissent

Mumbai Indians' wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik was fined five percent of his match fees for showing dissent during the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Tuesday night.

"Dinesh Karthik from Mumbai Indians was fined 5% of his match fee for breaching the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during the match at Ferozeshah Kotla Ground last evening," an IPL statement said Wednesday.

"Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.3) of showing dissent at an umpire's decision during the match. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the statement added.

 

Mumbai Indians lost the match by 48 runs as Chennai Super Kings made their fifth IPL final in six seasons.
