Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Thursday appointed two retired IAS officers as his advisors to run the administration of the state which is under Governor's rule.
A notification issued by the Raj Bhavan said Pervez Dewan and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, two retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, were appointed as advisors to assist Vohra in running the administration of the state, said a Raj Bhavan notification issued here.
The state was placed under governor's rule on January 8 after chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed passed away on January 7 in New Delhi, and there has been stalemate over formation of a new government in the state.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled the state in coalition that was headed by Sayeed, but his daughter and PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, has expressed inability to head a new government unless the central government announces some confidence building measures (CBMs).
The BJP Thursday asked the PDP to spell out in clear terms what are the CBMs which they want to be announced.
