The AAP on Wednesday accused the Gujarat government of putting pressure on a Surat university to cancel the booking of a hall as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was to attend an event.

Alleging political vendetta, the Aam Aadmi Party blamed Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel's office for the cancellation by the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University.

The AAP said this had forced Kejriwal to cancel his visit to Gujarat on July 10. He was also to visit Somnath.

Gujarat AAP leader and Delhi MLA Gulab Yadav and state AAP president Kanu Kalsaria told reporters that the hall's booking was cancelled on the direction of the Chief Minister's Office in Gandhinagar.

"This is nothing but political vendetta," Yadav said. "It also shows how much they fear Kejriwal."

The AAP said Kejriwal was invited by some leading businessmen of Surat to attend a function on July 10.

The AAP said such "cheap political tactics" would not deter Kejriwal from visiting Gujarat any time during the next two months.
