Kejriwal, Mamata to lead delegations to Mother Teresa's Canonisation

Besides an official Indian delegation led by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be leading separate delegations to the Vatican for the Canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa on September 4, officials said on Friday.

"Besides the official Indian delegation, two separate delegations led by two chief ministers had sought MEA's clearance to go for Canonisation. Those clearances have been granted," MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said.

Swarup said that the two chief ministers are Delhi's Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee.

The official India delegation being led by Sushma Swaraj consists of 10 members.

 

These include Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Goa Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza, Supreme Court judge Justice Kurian Joseph, former Solicitor General Harish Salve, Secretary General of Catholic Bishops' Conference of India Rev. Theodore Mascarenhas, K.J. Alphons and MPs K.V. Thomas, Jose K. Mani, Anto Anthony and Conrad K. Sangma, Swarup said.
