Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi were "detained" on Wednesday as they tried to meet the family of an ex-serviceman who had committed suicide over the One Rank One Pension demand, police said.

Kejriwal was on Wednesday evening detained by police after he tried to meet the family of a retired soldier who committed suicide, the AAP said.

Delhi Tourism Minister and AAP leader Kapil Mishra tweeted that Kejriwal had been detained by Delhi Police when he tried to go to a police station where the dead soldier's family had been detained earlier.

Meanwhile a police officer said that Gandhi was detained for the second time after "he attempted to disturb orderliness".

"Rahul Gandhi has been detained again as he tried to enter the (Connaught Place) police station and attempted to disturb the orderliness and ambience of the area," Joint Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak told IANS.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi was detained after he went to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital to meet the family members of the deceased ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who committed suicide here by consuming poison. He was taken to the Mandir Marg police station.

Pathak said that Gandhi along with party MP Jyotiraditya Scindia was detained at the Connaught Place police station and later shifted to Tilak Marg police station.
